Needles, cups, camera, action!

integrative medicine, neck and back pain, spasms, videos

[Note: This is not a paid advertisement. But it is an act of adventure-sharing.]

Last weekend, I had a terrific visit to CommUnity Acupuncture & Massage, where David Gorski performed acupunture and cupping on me.

The whole thing was captured on video by talented videographer Alistair Dunnington. (The video’s being edited; stay tuned for the final work.)

Most of you are familiar with acupuncture, so I’ll dive right into what’s foreign: cupping therapy.

Cupping — aka mysofascial release — aka what all the Olympic swimmers are doing — is basically a “reverse massage”. Specially-shaped cups made of plastic or glass are placed upon the skin to create a suction, which pulls myofascial tissue to create increased bloodflow, muscle movement, and relief. A more thorough oveview of cupping is here.

How’d it work for me? It went swimmingly.

Once David suctioned those cups to my back and moved ’em around on my skin, I felt immediate relief in my thoracic capacity (that’s my back), where I’d been experiencing some tension.*

The cupping provided an added bonus of overall mind/body relaxation.

You, too, can tryout cupping and acupuncture. ComUnity Acu offers “affordable health services for all”. Click here for details.

Much gratitude to CommUnity Acupuncture & Massage founders Nancy & Robert Evans for opening your doors to me.

And a mega-thanks to the creative, skilled videographer, Alistair Dunnington. I highly recommend him!

My acupuncture adventure: pinned & cupped

integrative medicine

Acupuncture and myofascial cupping therapy (“cupping”) are used by people around the world to overcome many health issues. CommUnity Acupuncture & Massage in Fort Collins offers both treatments at affordable rates.

This weekend, I’ll be stopping by there to tryout these integrative approaches to healing. Acupuncturist David Gorski will be leading my adventure.

I’m particularly interested in cupping — it’s all the rage among Olympic swimmers — though I boast of no gold medals. I’m also known to sink.

My acu-cupping experience will be captured on video, which I’ll share with you, once it’s edited. Stay tuned.

At CommUnity Acupuncture, you decide what fits your budget. They have an honor system requiring no income verification. Check it out.
